All my work is entirely invented without reference to anything in the material world but this piece, which sold recently, was the exception in that it was an experiment in re-arranging an iconic example of a popular abstract image. The idea started as a very quick sketch in 2019.
Two years later I revisited the idea to produce a more considered, substantial work. Below are pictures from my workshop in July 2021. The work was executed from a painting in gloss paints on a single piece of plyboard, which was then cut up and rearranged to form the dynamic new composition. The bottom picture shows it hanging in my home in October 2025.
